Geetoo Technology: 20 years of innovation

The journey of innovation and growth

Our beginnings date back to an era of significant IT transformation. In 2004, Facebook was launched. Gmail started its services with a 1 GB mailbox available by invitation only. Cloud was still several years in the future. Two high school classmates, Vladimír Kvaš and Michal Hampl, founded the web hosting company Gigant Group s.r.o.

The main activities included providing web hosting services and domain registration under the Mujhost.cz brand. Within a few years, the company rose to the top of the Czech market. By 2009, it managed over 500 rented managed servers. 

Our founders had a vision and were able to recognize the potential of new trends in time. Therefore, as early as 2012, the core of our business shifted to cloud computing. We saw more in new technologies than just a trendy buzzword. We became one of the pioneers in the Czech Republic, spreading the benefits of the cloud to the market. By 2017, we were among the fastest-growing cloud solutions providers in Central Europe, with our turnover approaching 500 million crowns. 

Significant milestones and achievements

• 2012 – The birth of the modern cloud:
  • We offered the first modern cloud services, gradually transitioning customers from dedicated servers to virtualized infrastructure.
• 2014 – We take cloud seriously:
  • We achieved prestigious Enterprise certifications from VMware, Silver from Hewlett-Packard, and Gold from Veeam. 
• 2015 – Name change and the first Cloudcamp:
  • We sold the hosting business and changed the company name to G2 server CZ s.r.o. to emphasize our focus on cloud servers. With the rapid rise in cloud interest, we organized the first annual conference focused on cloud technologies. 
• 2016 – We are the fastest growing cloud in Central Europe:
  • G2 server was recognized as the fastest-growing cloud provider in Central Europe. We entered the Slovak market and opened a subsidiary in Bratislava, including a local data center. The second annual Cloudcamp was held in Prague with significant vendors such as VMware, Veeam, and HPE. 
• 2017 – Increasing expertise:
  • As the only company in Central and Eastern Europe, we achieved the highest certification level (Platinum) from Veeam. HPE awarded us the Gold certification, and we were the only company in the entire region to apply for Premier Partner certification from VMware. The third Cloudcamp became the largest technology event of the year in the Czech Republic with 623 participants. 
• 2018 – Expansion to other regions:
  • We expanded our activities in Poland, founding a subsidiary in Warsaw and signing partnerships with local players. Simultaneously, we opened a branch in Vienna and started building a partner network in Austria. The name G2 server gradually became limiting and did not reflect the latest technologies, the company’s innovation, and global ambitions. The decision was made to change the name to the universal phonetic transcription: Geetoo.
• 2019 – Ticket to a prestigious club:
  • We obtained the Cloud Verified badge from VMware, a great honor that places us among the best and most innovative cloud solutions providers in the world. 
• 2020 – We are moving to a holding structure:
  • We founded Geetoo Holding a.s., which covers the activities of all group companies. As the first domestic provider, we offered commercial customers S3 object storage as a service. And we achieved VMware Principal Partner status.
• 2021 – Technological innovations:
  • Geetoo expanded its offering with DevOps and Kubernetes solutions, enabling more efficient management and implementation of applications in the cloud environment.
• 2022 – We are thriving despite the pandemic:
  • Demand for IT services grew, reflecting our results. In 2022, we received the VMware Cloud Provider of the Year award. 
• 2023 – New Identity:
  • Entering the multicloud era, our turnover approached 600 million crowns. Our professionalization was reflected in a new corporate identity and company name: Geetoo Technology s.r.o. We obtained the Master Service Competency certificate from VMware in Cloud Native. 
• 2024 – VMware by Broadcom:
  • Thanks to our results and long-term partnership with VMware, we were invited to the Broadcom Advantage Partner program. Our status allows us to provide VMware enterprise solutions through white-label collaboration. Michal Hampl took over the leadership of Geetoo Technology. We are preparing to launch a new state-of-the-art data center in Prague.

20th Birthday Celebration

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we will host a special event in the fall of 2024. This event will bring together our valued customers, partners, and IT industry leaders.
